Christine Errath (born December 29, 1956 in Berlin, Germany) is a German figure skater.
Christine Errath was coached by Inge Wischnewski. She skated for the club SC Dynamo Berlin and was representing the GDR (East-Germany).
Christine Errath was World Champion in 1974, three time European Champion between 1973 and 1975 and won the bronze medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics.
Christine Errath was especially strong in free skating. Therefore the change of the judging rules in 1972 with the reduction of the importance of the compulsory figures was an advantage for her.
Until 1973 Sonja Morgenstern, another skater from East-Germany coached by Jutta Müller was her permanent rival. In 1976 she got again another serious rival named Anett Pötzsch, again coached by Jutta Müller. Christine Errath lost the competition versus Anett Pötzsch at the 1976 Europeans by winning only the bronze medal, but could win the duel at the Olympics and the worlds again.
Christine Errath was married to Ulrich Trettin, a former East-German tennis champion. The marriage is divorced.
Christine Errath works for the German TV-station MDR, produced especially for people in the German states Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. She presents together with Hans-Joachim Wolfram the show "Außenseiter Spitzenreiter" (“Top model Outsider”).
Christine Errath is mother of two children.
