Christianity in Sudan

Christianity reached what is now northern Sudan by about the fourth century. During the 19th century, British missionaries introduced the faith into the South Sudan. There are about 2,009,374 or 5 % of the population, who are Protestants. Roman Catholicism in Sudan is a minority of about 2 million persons or 5 % of the population. The Muslim government in the North has vowed to destroy Christianity.
