Christian Tobin

Christian Tobin (born April 20, 1978 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, theatre director and political activist. Tobin began performing in folk music clubs at the age of 16 thanks in part to the support of Toronto folk staple Norm Hacking. About the same time he began to take part in theatre working with the Blackhorse Village Players in Tottenham, Ontario.

Tobin has worked both as a solo act and as part of a band. In 1997 he teamed up with singer/musician Kai Koschmider to form the duo Tobin & Koschmider. The pair performed together exclusively until 2002. Tobin was the youngest performer to play the late Caledon Folk Festival in both 1996 and 1997 and has performed with the likes of Norm Hacking, Michael Peter Smith, Jackie Washington and more.

By the start of 2006 Tobin had become "Disenchanted" with the music scene and in November of that year official decided to walk away from it. In April 2006 Tobin returned to his thespian roots and formed Blue Raven Theatre in Toronto as a way to showcase amateur performers and playwrights.

Even as a child Tobin expressed a strong interest in politics and political activism. In the 2006 Toronto Municipal Election Tobin worked as a volunteer on the reelection campaign of Councillor Michael Walker, Ward 22 St. Paul's. Walker was reelected with nearly 80% of the vote.
