Christian Sharps

Christian Sharps (born New Jersey, 1811 - died 1874) designed the Sharps breech-loading rifle. Although the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company bore his name, he was not the principal owner and left the company to form a partnership with William Hankins in 1862, known as Sharps & Hankins.
