Christian Methodist Episcopal Zion Church
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Christian Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is a tentative name for a merger between the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. This was proposed in 2000 during merger negotiations.
The two churches have been in negotiations for many years to merge. The plan was originally for them to unite by 2004, but this has been delayed by the AMEZ church, which, for example, insists on having "African" in the name. [1] [2] Both churches are very similar in doctrine and practice to each other and to the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
