Christian Manon

Christian Manon is a French-Australian actor based in Sydney, Australia.

Christian was born and educated in the South West of France. His passion for travel and discovery eventually took him to the New-Hebrides (Vanuatu) in the South Pacific. He lived for two years on the island of Tanna prior to being invited and then settling in Australia.

He trained in Sydney with Steve Peters from Triad Stage Alliance and in Adelaide with Madame Zora Semberova ex-tutor from the National Theatre of Prague.

He performed with various Fringe companies such as: Demitheatre, La Petite Troupe, Australian Mime Theatre, Corporeal Mime, Chatterbox Trio, the Ozo bros and under his own name as a solo Mime artist. With Sidetrack, the pioneering Australian multicultural theatre company, he co-devised and performed in Down Under the Thumb, Dog's Bush, The Disappeared, Out from Under, Loco, and Day to Day.

With the Sydney Theatre Company he was in The Blind Giant is Dancing, The Misanthrope, The Marriage of Figaro, Tartuffe and The Miser. He toured Australia with the Bell/Shakespeare Company's King Lear directed by Barrie Kosky. Other stage productions Christian was in include Da Vinci Was Right (lead role) [J.P Mignon's Anthill], The Circumnavigations of Captain Asterion [La Mama], Les Enfants du Paradis [Company B], A StreetCar Named Desire [Nichols/Bhom], Fallen Angels [John Frost] and Antigone [Crossroads].

A long string of television appearances began with Bodyline and lately includes A Difficult Woman, Bondi Banquet and six episodes of the popular political satire series BackBerner.Most recently Christian could be seen in All Saints.

He was in several short films notably in the world acclaimed multi-award winner Down Rusty Down by John Curran and the just released Fallers by David Lawrance. Most recently he played the "Evil Mime" in the video clip for song "All Night" by Australian band Bit By Bats.

Feature films include Young Einstein, The Punisher, Oscar and Lucinda, Babe II, Mission:Impossible 2 and Queen of the Damned.

DEMITHEATRE(1977-78) Sydney. Part of a small ensemble of actors living and training together in Warehouse 9, Nicholson St, Balmain East, under the direction of Steve Peters from John Strelow's Triad Stage Alliance.

AUSTRALIAN MIME THEATRE(1979-80) Adelaide. Full time classes in mime and movement tutored by Madame Zora Semberova ex-National Theatre of Prague.
