The Christian Alliance International School (CAIS) is an elementary/secondary Christian school that is based in Hong Kong and runs on a unique Canadian curriculum. The school is non-profit and is owned and operated by the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance (KTAC). The school requires all students to speak English.
CAIS began operation in September 1992 with about 40 students ranging from grade 7-11. G.12 was created the following year and increased enrollment to about 90 students. Grades 1 to 6 joined the school in 1995 and, in 1996, a kindergarten was added. CAIS accommodates an enrolment of approximately 475 students from more than 20 different countries and is represented by a diverse mix of cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.
The school contains about 24 different classrooms and facilities including a dance room, home economics laboratory, library and resource centre, computer laboratory, two science laboratories, a band practice room, music room and a visual arts room.
The school has competed in the "Battle of the Books" since it was brought to Hong Kong in 2000. They compete with other schools in city wide competitions. They have won all the championships since except for 2005-2006, losing in the finals.
The school also has a grade 5-12 band. The students perform in various concerts, and compete as well. The band always gets a "superior" and above in their ratings and do extremely well in comparison with other schools.
The school's main sport is basketball, and have fairly strong teams, getting to the playoffs every year. The 2007-2008 season finals are on March 2nd, the finalists are American International School, International Christian School, Canadian International School, and Christian Alliance International School.
CAIS's website has a forum that is used by many students to chat freely, though teachers also talk as well. The forum is only availible to students and teachers. It is being actively maintained, and a few thousand as the total post count.
