Christen C. Raunkiær

Christen C. Raunkiær was a botanist, best known for his system of botanical life-forms, the Raunkiær system, a categorisation of plants based on the position of the wintering buds, described in Raunkiær (1934), The Life Forms of Plants and Statistical Plant Geography, published by Oxford University Press.
He was based at the University of Copenhagen where he was scientific assistant at the Botanical Garden and the Botanical Museum from 1893 to 1911, and Professor of Botany from 1912 to 1923.
