Christopher "Chris" Francis Tate was a fictional character on the ITV1 soap Emmerdale in the UK. He was played by Peter Amory.
Chris was a member of the cast for 14 years. He was one of the victims of the infamous plane crash; he was in The Woolpack when it collapsed and was paralysed by injuries suffered when he was crushed by falling masonry. He never walked again, but continued his success as a businessman despite being confined to a wheelchair.
He died after finding out his wife Charity had been unfaithful to him and discovering he had a fatal, inoperable, brain tumour. He poisoned himself and successfully framed his wife for his murder. Although she was cleared of murder, she still had to waiver all her rights to his estates and as a result did not benefit from his demise.
