Chris Potter (born Christopher Jay Potter August 23, 1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada), is a Canadian actor. Potter is known primarily for his action lead roles in series such as Kung Fu: The Legend Continues and Silk Stalkings.

Christopher Jay Potter was born in Toronto and raised in London, Ontario. As a child, his mother involved him in community theatre while his father, a former pro-football player, encouraged Potter's passion for baseball, football and ice hockey. Potter discovered a love of acting in school but never seriously considered pursuing it as a career, working instead as a stockbroker in Europe and in Canada, while continuing to perform in amateur theater productions. During this time, Potter caught the attention of Martha Henry, one of Canada's leading actresses, who cast him in the Canadian production of “Biloxi Blues” at the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario. He won rave reviews and within a month landed a leading role in the CBC television series Material World (1990).

He made a name for himself in television starring in two long-running popular dramatic series, which at one point let to him appearing on screen in two different roles at the same time. He played David Carradine's son and crime fighting partner in “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues,” which debuted in 1993 and aired for four seasons, and starred as a hard-hitting police sergeant for three years in USA Network's Silk Stalkings, for which he also served as an episodic director. Some of his other credits include CBS's Open House Rush of Fear, the ABC pilots The Big House (2001) and Astronauts (2002), Andromeda, the USA Network television movie, The Waiting Game (1998), as the voice of Gambit in the Fox animated series X-Men (1992) and as a guest star on Will & Grace. He also recorded an album entitled Tourmaline (BMI) in 1997 for MAG Records.

When "Kung Fu" ended, Potter accepted the lead in the revamped USA Network series Silk Stalkings. Subsequently, he shot a number of films including Rockets Red Glare, for which he won the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival Award for best actor, and The Shrink is In. In 2003, Potter accepted co-star role with Joely Fisher short-lived show on Lifetime's called Wild Card. Other TV appearances include a role as Dr. David Cameron in season one of the American/Canadian Queer as Folk and an appearance in the US prime-time series Will & Grace. Potter also had guest roles playing two different characters in the tv drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. More recently, he appeared as Captain Bill Fawcett in the Vin Diesel comedy, "The Pacifier".

He and his wife live in Ontario with their four children.
