Chris Kilmore

Chris Kilmore (born 21 January 1973) is the turntablist of the rock band Incubus.

[edit] Early History
Chris Kilmore was raised outside of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania by an adoptive family. He was first introduced to 'spinning records' when he saw "Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince" perform live, and he fell in love with it immediately. He bought his first table after getting a job at a Fast-food restaurant, and his father bought him a matching counterpart.
As an adult, Kilmore relocated to LA with the intention of building up a musical career. After performing as a DJ at local LA clubs, Kilmore later joined a DJ battle crew, the Jedi Knights (Kilmore is a big Star Wars fan).

In 1998, Kilmore went from semi-anonymity, to performing in front of thousands of people practically overnight when he got the chance to try out for a rock band who had recently parted ways with their original DJ. Kilmore had one audition with the band Incubus, and was immediately taken aboard. The rest of the band was instantly impressed with Kilmore, who quickly learned the parts for over a dozen songs in a matter of days. The band was in the middle of a tour when he joined so he was straight into a busy schedule. Chris' previous dire financial situation was greatly improved on joining Incubus - before, he had been forced to go without electricity in his apartment because he could not afford the bill.
After a stretch of constant touring, the band, now with Kilmore, took time off to write and record their second full length major label album, Make Yourself. Incubus has said that Chris's addition to the band was intended to give them a deeper, more organic texture to the music than had been heard before. The album would prove to be very successful. The single "Drive" was released and did very well.
With the band's follow up albums Morning View (2001) and A Crow Left of the Murder (2004), Chris continued to provide an added creative force to the band. This force was increased with the release of Light Grenades by Incubus - he is now credited for playing the "Turntables, Hammond B3, Moog Voyager, Rhodes, Mellotron, Piano, Marxophone, and Theremin."
