Chris Helme

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chris Helme (born on 22 July 1971, in York, England) is the former singer of The Seahorses, a band put together by guitarist John Squire following the demise of his previous group The Stone Roses.

It is rumoured that Helme was spotted, busking outside the department store Woolworths, on York's Coney Street.[citation needed]

The band only released one album Do It Yourself (album) which proved popular with listeners but less so with critics. Their first single, "Love is the Law", reached number 2 in the UK singles chart and was followed-up by "Blinded by the Sun".

Since The Seahorses split in 1999, Helme has played numerous solo shows, as well as fronting The Yards, who feature another former Seahorse, bassist Stuart Fletcher.
