Chris Gorman

Chris Gorman (born 1966) is a serial entrepreneur who lives in Renfrewshire in Scotland. He grew up in Hartlepool. He was an organiser of the Live 8 concert in Edinburgh.

A serial entrepreneur, Chris Gorman has headed several highly successful ventures in technology and retail businesses. A founder shareholder in UK mobile phone retailer DX Communications which was sold in 1999, Chris then went on to create the internet services company, Reality Solutions, which he sold for £35m in 2000.

Having experienced the tougher end of business with the widely publicised Gadget Shop in 2002 and Birthday's retail challenges in August 2003, Chris has emerged stronger than ever and current business interests include a number of mobile and internet enterprises as well as Quintessentially, Datastore, Get Fit Wellness, MobMart, The Light Agency and purple-lounge.com. He had a programme on Channel 4 in 2005 called Make me a Million.

Chris has received many business awards for his entrepreneurialism over the years including Ernst & Young Scottish Entrepreneur of the Year, UK E-Business Entrepreneur, Young Business Leader of the Year, Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland in Business, and the laudable SBAAT Businessman of the Year Award.

In June 2005, Chris received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to business.

Chris is a regular speaker at business events; he has featured in several business related TV shows; he lectures in schools and universities and has been awarded an honorary professorship in Business at the University of Paisley. He is Vice Chairman of the Entrepreneurial Exchange and Governor of the Royal Scottish Academy for Music and Drama.

He was featured on the BBC's Money Programme on March 30th 2007, shown on a visit to Franschhoek in South Africa sampling wine. He is married with four children.
