Chris D'Lacey

Chris D'Lacey is an English writer of children's fiction. Born in Malta in 1949, he lives in Leicester. D'Lacey's novel "Fire Star"is a sequel to Icefire which is another sequel to the book The Fire Within. Icefire was shortlisted for the Angus Book Award in 2006. Best-selling author and artist Philip Reeve has provided illustrations for several of D'Lacey's works and he has collaborated with children's author Linda Newbery. His book, Fly, Cherokee, Fly was highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. In July 2002 he was awarded a honorary doctorate from the University of Leicester. Children sometime ask him, "How long does it take to write a book?" The answer is, "For little books, about one hour. For novels, several months."
