Chris Brown is the Grammy-nominated, self-titled debut album of American R&B/pop singer Chris Brown, released on November 29, 2005 (see 2005 in music). It entered the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at number two, selling more than 155,000 copies. Within five weeks after release, it has gone platinum. To date, 1.8 million copies have been sold in the U.S. and over 3 million worldwide. It has been recently been certified 2x platinum. It peaked at number one on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
The album's first single was "Run It!", which was produced by Scott Storch. It received substantial radio airplay (going to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart), and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for five weeks. It replaced "Gold Digger" by Kanye West, and was itself replaced by Mariah Carey's "Don't Forget About Us". It also topped Billboard's Pop 100 chart. The single's video was directed by Erik White. Other singles released from the album include "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)", another US top 10 hit for Brown, along with "Gimme That", which was released as a remix with rapper Lil' Wayne and the fourth single, "Say Goodbye" which peaked at #10 in the US. The fifth and final single from the album is "Poppin'" which is currently climbing the charts.
This album has been released with the Copy Control protection system in some regions.
