Chris Andrews (politician)

This article is about the Irish politician. For others, see Chris Andrews

Chris Andrews is an Irish politician and a member of a political dynasty. He is the grandson of Todd Andrews, a leading figure in the early days of Fianna Fáil. Chris Andrews's father and uncle, Niall Andrews and David Andrews both served as Fianna Fáil TDs while his first cousin, Barry Andrews was elected a TD in the 2002 general election. Another cousin, Ryan Tubridy is a successful chatshow host on RTÉ.

Chris Andrews failed in his first attempt to be elected to Dáil Éireann in the 2002 general election. However the decision of sitting TD Eoin Ryan to become a Member of the European Parliament has led to speculation that Andrews will replace him as Fianna Fáil TD in the constituency at the next Irish general election, making him the fifth member of his family to sit in the Dáil. However his electoral prospects were dealt a blow by his failure to hold on to his seat in Dublin City Council in the 2004 local elections.
