[edit] Synopsis
Raj Malhotra (Salman Khan) and Priya (Rani Mukerji) are members of high society. They meet, get married and soon Priya falls pregnant, but loses her child due to an accident and becomes infertile. The couple conceal this fact, and decide to secretly look for a surrogate mother to bear Raj's child. Raj comes across Madhubala aka Madhu (Preity Zinta), who is a prostitute and agrees to have Raj's baby - she is only doing it for the money. Raj conceals the fact that Madhu is a prostitute from Priya. After some much needed grooming, Madhu meets Priya and they all leave for Switzerland together to carry out their plan.
Soon enough Madhu is pregnant with Raj's child, and he happily tells his family that Priya is expecting (though in actual fact she is not). Madhu is harassed by Raj's business partner who asks her for sexual favours. She is ready to leave the house, upset by the fact that Raj told his friend that she is a prostitute (though he really didn't). It takes Priya in order to convince Madhu not to leave, she also happens to hear about Madhu's profession but she feels that Madhu is still the right girl for their problem. Raj's business partner ends up assaulting Madhu whilst she is in the house alone, however Raj saves her. His kindness overwhelms her and she falls in love with him.
Raj's family unexpectedly end up coming to Switzerland, their sudden arrival means that Priya has to disguise her fake pregnancy so they stuff a pillow to look as if she is pregnant. The family also meet the heavily pregnant Madhu. Raj manages to convince that family that Madhu's husband has left her in his care. Raj's grandfather (Amrish Puri) arranges a religious ceremony and tells Raj and Priya that they are going back to India, this also includes Madhu.
The ceremony is very important so Priya instead sends Madhu as herself as she is the one carrying the baby. The emotion at the ceremony is too much for her and Madhu cannot bear the fact that she will have to give up her child. Priya finds Madhu's room empty, with the money dumped on the bed and pursues her to the train station. Madhu tells Priya that she loves Raj, this angers Priya and she slaps her. Raj ends up at the train station, and sees that Madhu has gone into an early labour. The doctor announces that only one of the two can be saved - Madhu or her child. Priya asks the doctor to save Madhu. To everybody's joy both the baby and Madhu are saved and she gives her child to Priya. Priya quickly lays down in her fake hospital room and the doctors bring "her" baby and while Madhu comes and visits over the doctor tell the family that her child had died as soon as she gave birth.
Madhu decides to leave and promises Raj that she will not go back to her old profession. When he takes her to the airport he realizes that she loved him and kisses her on the forehead. Madhu leaves happily able to carry on with her life.
