Chora Tree
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Chora Tree is a tree cited in the Wheel Of Time series of books by Robert Jordan. A part of the enigmatic "Age Of Legends", and supposedly a centerpiece to any city of that time and far more ubiquitous than the last in existence at the time the story takes place.
Avendesora means "Tree of Life" in the Old Tongue. It is the last existing chora tree. It grows in the city of Rhuidean in the Aiel Waste. The leaves of Avendesora are trefoil shaped, and it seems to exude a calming and healing atmosphere.
Avendoraldera was a sapling of Avendesora presented by the Aiel to Cairhien in 566 NE. It was a gift in return for the people of the new city of Cairhien, who gave water to the Aiel shortly after the Breaking. It grew for four hundred years before King Laman cut it down to build himself a throne precipitating the Aiel War.
