Chonos - one of the mongolian tribes, can be found in Kalmykia, Buryatia and Irkutskaya provence in Russian Federation, in Inner Mongolia in People Republic of China and in Mongolia. The name of the tribe translates as "wolves" or "wolf's", and it is one of the most ancient mongolian tribes. It is else famous as a first tribe, which joined Gengis-Khan. The other names of the tribe in different mongolian languages are "shono", "chono", "shonod", "chinos" e.t.c.
