[edit] School Emblem
Roots:
The roots branching out in five directions symbolise our five core values; Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication to nation and Excellence (PRIDE). The roots are the foundation of the tree; without them, the tree will not survive. Just like the roots, the core values are our firm beliefs which are deeply rooted within us. With these values, Chong Boon will grow and flourish.
The Circular Shape and Horizon:
The circular shape symbolises a holistic education where Chong Boonites are educated to be gracious all-rounders. The flow of the horizon reflects the ease that students feel in embracing a holistic education.
The Tree Reaching Out:
The tree reaching towards the sky symbolises the students developing all social and emotional competencies and maximising their potential in whatever they do.
The Birds:
The birds flying in the sky represent the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of Chong Boon. They symbolise our students going beyond the school and its curriculum to venture into uncharted territories in their pursuit of lifelong learning. With moral courage, confidence and resilience they will fly the extra mile to serve the nation.

Doing It Differently was an attitude the school had embraced to engage the entire school to reflect on all that was happening in school, pondering on the purpose and value underlying these processes and offering suggestions to add value to them. For example, students were encouraged to seriously mull over the need for an enhanced school tone and discipline and to present their views on the desired outcomes. Suggestions made by students for school improvement were welcomed and rationale for decisions were openly discussed to help them appreciate the value and respect for collective responsibility.
[edit] Student Managed Activities
One of the most exciting developments that had taken place this year was the active involvement and empowerment of students in managing major school events. Year 2005 started off with the student leaders from Sec 2 to Sec 5 getting together to plan and organise the Sec One Orientation. The programme, called ‘The Metamorphosis’, was so successful that they felt confident enough to take on greater responsibilities and had gone on to be key players in organising this year’s school’s Cross Country, the Track and Field event and Total Defence Day. One other initiative undertaken by the IT Club was the ‘Computer Literacy Course’ for Parents. Sec 3 and 4 pupils prepared course materials and conducted the course and now they have plans to impart computer skills to their junior schoolmates.
