[edit] Dumping information into Wikipedia

I would appriciate it if you didn't just dump random information into Wikipedia. Please follow guidelines and formatting styles when creating articles. Articles like Tam Pierce (song) containing one sentence with a stub notification are not up to the correct guidlines and are unwanted. For future reference please read Wikipedia:Article development so you don't get any more messages like this. semper fiMoe 18:15, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Tam Pierce. It's hardly random information. It's the start of an article about a very old and well known folk song. It's also linked to an album by Burl Ives, which in turn is linked to the discography in the Burl Ives entry. I noted that the "article" was a stub; I had planned to come back to it later. Moe:You undid a lot of my work. It was work in progress. I was building -- slowly but surely. You deleted my work without contacting me first to discuss the matter. Although you made some improvements to the "Wayfaring Stranger" article, you also introduced several errors, and you created confusion with the many redirects. How do we resolve this dispute? Chironomia 23 January 2007
That's the point, you're not supposed to create work's in progress and one sentence articles unless your going to make them right now. One sentence articles like that damage Wikipedia, not help it. It's fine if you want to create articles, but do One at a time! If you continusly do this, I will continue to undo it. semper fiMoe 12:15, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
O.K, Moe, I will try to follow your advice. But please drop me a note if there's a problem and let me see what I can do about it. Remember, don't bite the newbies. That's a rule, too. Chironomia 23 January 2007
A quick look through your last few contributions shows a much better, written article. Continue to do this instead of one sentence/one word articles please. Something else I noticed was you added lyrics, please don't add them. Lyrics are copyrighted and shouln't be added unless the lyrics has been released into the public domain. Something else I wanted to say was how you title the articles. Please consider the guidelines we have for this and name them properly. Like Darlin' Cory (song), you created the redirect Darlin' Corey to Darlin' Cory (song)]]; this is incorrect. The reason we add (song) after a title is because there are more than one articles with that title and the (song) or (album) afterwards causes less confusion to what article you are talking about. The article should be located at Darlin' Cory, not Darlin' Cory (song) because Darlin' Cory doesn't have another meaning and redirecting Darlin' Cory to [[Darlin' Cory (song) is redundant to the reason we add the disambiguation to begin with. To put in simple terms don't be so quick in titling an article with a (song) after it. If the (song) part of the title can be left out, create the artivle without it. semper fiMoe 12:34, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: Copyright. True folk songs are in the public domain. But let's do without the lyrics for now. I can include summaries and links instead. Feel free to add to the content of the articles (i.e., the stubs) to improve them. Deleting is not the only option, you know. Chironomia 24 January 2007
I know I can improve on articles, but without taking the time to research it, redirecting is alright too (I'm not particularly keen on Folk songs by Burl Ives anyways). Oh, and chances are if you can recite the policy on WP:BITE, chances are you aren't a newbie (You've been here since December 28th, you should be fine). semper fiMoe 20:40, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
