The Purple Star
Awarded to Chicocvenancio. This user was blocked in error and as a result of admin abuse.--Zleitzen 19:03, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Having noticed that you were blocked back in April, I am attempting to remedy the situation by making it clear that the block was bogus and in error. The admin repsonsible, User:PMA was subsequently discovered to be blocking many people without due justification, and has lost his admin capabilities.--Zleitzen 18:51, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] North America

Hi! We spent a long time going over this very recently. You can see the discussion about this point and a related one on Talk:North America#North and South America are two continents. Yes, it is true that the IOC refers to "five continents", but in a fairly vague -- almost poetic -- sense, as in "five regions of the world." English-language reliable sources are very consistent about this: North America and South America are two distinct continents (see that talk page discussion for details). I learned something interesting in this process -- the Spanish version of Encarta talks about the Americas being a single super-continent, while the English version presents the understanding of the English speaking world. We're following the same rule here -- this is the English Wikipedia, so we present the understanding of the English speaking world. But if you take a look at North America#Usage of the term, you'll see that we do mention the different understanding in Latin America, that the Americas are a supercontinent containing the subcontinents of North America and South America. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 06:52, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mercosur

Hi there. I just wanted to know if you were still interested in the Mercosur Project. If so, we should try to promote it and get as many members as possible. James Hetfield (talk contribs)
