[edit] Purpose of Article

The purpose of this article is to distinguish the spice chile powder from the identically pronounced spice chili powder in the existing article on that subject.

To merge this article into another name would defeat the whole purpose of this article. This is particularly true in the case of Chilli Pepper, as the current spelling for the name of that article is more akin to the other spice (chili powder) than the one we are talking about here, and would only serve to increase the confusion, rather than alleviate it!
