I'm pretty sure this series is a full ten years older than currently stated. My old VHS recording of the last couples of episodes clearly states a 1974 production date. I've not altered anything until I can prove it. Anyway, i've corrected the name of the "Brass Daisy" as it is referred to as a "Daisy Rod" and i've also corrected the writing credits for programme and book.

I have the book to hand. It was first published in 1984, and in the author's preface Marie Stuttard explains that she waited for each episode to be completed before writing the corresponding chapter, and makes no mention of a ten-year interval. IMDb says the TV series was from 1984. [1]
In the book, Gretchen's Aunt Kathleen says "I call it the Brass Daisy" (p. 15), and Gretchen uses the name herself (pp. 32, 79) until Kolob identifies its parts to her; the narrative calls it the daisyrod (with no space), and the technical drawing has a single reference to the "daisy Rod" as a whole. (It has labels for the geodesic eyeball, flexible stalk, pyramid petals, delta nodes, delta generator, memory lense, etc.)
In the preface, Marie Stuttard describes CotDS as "a collaboration from the beginning". She discussed her idea for the story with television dramatist Ken Catran; he wrote the TV scripts while she wrote the book and radio series (what happened with that?).
