Talk:Chia Pet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although I find the chronology of Chia pets bizarre, it is certainly not spam (since there are no links for buying these), and seems to be the work of devoted collectors. I'm going to clean up the formatting.--Curtis Clark 04:57, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Official website?
I'm conflicted about deleting the spam link Official Chia Pet website; if it's truly the one and only "official" web site (representing the trademark owner, or whatever), I can see a point to adding it back, with that fact noted.--Curtis Clark 15:30, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Official websites are always acceptable on wikipedia. As a whois search can tell you, chia.com is owned by Joseph Pedott Advertising, a subsidiary of Joseph Enterprises. I put down "official website" on the summary so I don't understand the revert. As such, I am putting it back in. Calwatch 19:03, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

- At issue was "an official" vs. "the official". I guess I've been reverting too many spamlinks lately and overreacted.--Curtis Clark 04:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deletions Explained
I deleted the "Chi Pet" from the Other Items section, because it is not a Chia Pet item in any sense. It is a freeware program created by some unrelated person to the franchise. Hense, it doesn't even hedge in on the copywrite name of Chia Pet. If someone wanted to add a Cultural References section to the page, it would belong there. As the page had such a Trivia section at one point, but someone deleted it wholesale, I would assume it doesn't belong at all, unless a more appropriate section were made.
I deleted a false second listing of the Chia Cat Grass Planter that someone had added to the timeline for some reason. The Chia Cat Grass Planter came out in 2004, and was already on the listing in the correct place. There really is no need for the same item to be listed twice, especialy when the second listing is incorrect. Angel the Techrat 07:51, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Picture
So many Chia pet owners and there aren't pictures up? Someone should release a photo to Wikipedia of one. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.44.234.50 (talk) 16:32, 7 February 2007 (UTC).
- The official page, linked at the bottom of the article, has pictures of all non-discontinued ones. I can't think of any pictures of the discontinued ones that I could put up according to the fair use rules. Just eBay photos.Angel the Techrat 03:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
