Chittagong Collegiate School

The Chittagong Collegiate School is a notable secondary school in Chittagong, the southern port city in Bangladesh. Established in 1836, it is one of the oldest schools in the country. The school is known for its excellence in providing secondary education and attract students from all over the country.

Chittagong Collegiate School was established as Chittagong Government School in 1836. The school was the first English medium high school in Chittagong. Initially, its classes were held in a brick building constructed during the early years of British rule at a place between the southern part of the Parade Ground and the eastern section of the Madrasah Hills, the present location of Mohsin College. The school was then shifted to a new place at the southern section of the Markot Sahib Hills. Finally, the school was relocated to its present address at Ice Factory Road, South Nalapara, near the Chittagong Railway Station in 1886, and was given the name of Chittagong Collegiate School. Until the first decade of the twentieth century, the school was popularly known as the Entrance School.

The school has a dormitory for the residential students and has a residential area for the teachers. The school campus is considered to be one of the largest campuses in Bangladesh. It has a playground which is one of the largest among Bangladeshi schools. The school has the tradition of obtaining the best results in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
The school offers its student the facility to obtain vocational education as well as academic qualification. It has one of the largest vocational education workshop in the country.
The school is also undertaking the development of its sports facilities which includes a swimming pool within the school campus.
The school had the highest number students who acieved GPA 5 in 2005 and aiming to keep the record this year as well.
The headmaster of this school is Md.Aziz uddin
The school offers teaching in 2 shifts over 6 days a week to its over 2000 students in its 21 spacious classrooms. The school also has a large and resourceful library, a computer lab, 2 science labs, 3 halls and one auditorium.
The School achieved country's Best School Award in 1992.

- Dr.Jamal Nazrul Islam: Eminent scientist and professor of physics and mathematics in Chittagong University.
- Moinul Islam: Professor of Economics of Chittagong University.
- Abul Hayat: Famous actor with frequent appearance in the television media.
- Dr. Mohit Kamal: Psychiatrist and author.
- Nabinchandra Sen: Poet.
