Chiputneticook Lakes

The Chipnuneticook Lakes are a group of several lakes (East Grand Lake, Spednic Lake, North Lake, Mud Lake and Palfrey Lake) that form the head waters of the St. Croix River that divdes the state of Maine and the province of New Brunswick.

Chipnuneticook is a word of unknown origin given to the lakes by the Native peoples who resided in the area centuries ago.
