Dakota High School is a public high school located in Macomb, Michigan, United States. It opened in 1995 as the second high school in the Chippewa Valley school district. An overflow of freshmen caused the need to build a ninth grade center. However, as that building could not be built in time for the next school year, Dakota had to utilize a finished wing of the new Seneca Middle School building. Currently, Chippewa Valley Schools claims that they may not be able to open the new ninth grade center due to budget problems.[3]

Seneca Middle School is one of four middle schools in the Chippewa Valley School District in Macomb County in Michigan. Currently in the 2006-2007 school year, it is located in a building (which was formerly Chippewa Valley High School) next to the current Chippewa Valley High School building. In the 2007-2008 school year, Seneca was slated to be moved to a brand new building that is next to Dakota High School; however, this may not be possible due to a shortage of money to run the new building. In the event that Seneca does move, the old building will become the Chippewa Valley High School 9th Grade Center. And, because use of the building would remove Dakota's ability to utilize a wing of the building for its overflow of freshmen, Dakota must be able to open its newly constructed 9th grade center.[4]
