About

CHIP was launched in India in April 1998. It was earlier published in India by Jasubhai Digital Media under a licensing agreement with Vogel-Veriag of Germany. It touched a circulation of 120,000[1]. However, financial issues led to Jasubhai parting ways with Vogel, and launching their own magazine called Digit[2].

Later, the magazine was licensed to Infomedia. It has a readerbase of over 750,000[citation needed]. The Magazine carries with it a free DVD and two CD's each month. The DVD contains Game demos, software and sometimes, a Linux Distro . The two CD's are labelled Tools & Toys. Tools contains the latest applications & utilities whereas Toys contains Games, Game Demos, Wallpapers, Game Trailers, Movie Trailers & other utilities. Starting from December 2006, the magazine's anniversary, CHIP started providing a dual layer DVD.
