Chiobu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chiobu is a slang term to describe a (usually) young female girl, and is commonly used in South East Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia among the Chinese communities. The word is made up of two parts, Chio and Bu, the former word being a somewhat impolite way of describing a pretty lady, and the latter word a dialect form of the word Girl.
The word has made it into the vernacular of creoles such as Singlish and Manglish.
Usage: "She is a chio bu!", "That school is famed for its number of chio bus."
The term is a close equivalent to the term leng neoi (靚女) in Hong Kong, although leng neoi often refers to the fairer and more decent looking North-East Asian varieties, whereas Chiobu is more acknowledged to be the typical "hot South-East Asian beach girls".
