The Chinese crocodile lizard (Shinisaurus crocodilurus) is classed by IUCN as vulnerable. Little is known about it, since the Chinese crocodile lizard is found only in very small areas in the Hunan, Guangxi Zhuang, and Guizhou provinces of China. It is a popular animal in the illegal pet trade as it is slow moving and easily caught sleeping on branches above shallow ponds and streams where it hunts by day.
