The Chilliwack and District Pipe Band was founded in 1961 under the sponsorship of the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. In its early days, the band was performance oriented and traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest representing the city of Chilliwack. In 1998 the band radically altered its direction to be more competition oriented and was promoted to grade III one year later. The band was further promoted to grade II in 2003 and they travel to every sanctioned games of the British Columbia Pipers Association to compete. Their regualar competition includes the Maple Ridge Pipe Band and the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band.
