Chikitsak Samuha Shirolkar High School

Chikitsak Samuha Shirolkar High School is a well known educational institute located in Girgaum, Mumbai, Maharashtra State in India. This highly elite school was founded in 1906, and has recently completed its centenary (1906-2006). The school is also known as CSS High School. It has been a Marathi medium school since its inception, and has recently incorporated an English medium section. CSS High school has been especially well recognized as the alma mater of top ranking students in Maharashtra State Secodary School Board Examinations year after year.

Professor Vasudev Shankar Nabar was one of the famous Principals of CSS High school, since 1974 until 1984. He is well known to Maharashtrian student community as "Navneet", the author of some of the Navneet guidebooks.

Professor Shreedhar Keshav Deodhar, a very popular and favorite teacher, is also a famous Historian and author of Historic literature (i.e. novels, short stories and dramas).

CSS High School has indeed provided excellent education to many generations of Maharashtrian students over the years, and has produced many great Marathi writers, scientists, economists and doctors. To name a few, Anant Kanekar - one of the pioneers of "Laghukatha" (short stories) in Marathi - and Jaywant Dalvi - famous writer - are two well-recognized alumni of CSS High School.
