Chicod School

Chicod Middle School is a K-8 School in the unincorporated community of Chicod, North Carolina on Highway 43 about 12 miles south of Greenville, North Carolina. It is a part of the Pitt County Schools school system. Steven Jones is the Principal, and Fredonia Stewart is the Assistant Principal.

As one of the oldest schools in the county, it was built in 1929 and used to be a high school.

In May 2006, Principal Steven Jones was accused of having to be physically restrained while punishing a 7th grader at the school.[1] Jones has been suspended with pay from the school since May 26, 2006. However, as of August 2006, Jones appears to be back at the school. When he was found innocent

In the year of 2004-2005 the construction of a new building started it was finished the 2005-2006 school year. This is used as a kindergarten-2nd grade hallway it also holds the new computer lab. This was built to take away usage of the second level of the main building which is practically falling apart.

Chicod is also the honorary school of excellence. Which means they scored the highest on EOG scores in the county. The EOG is a standarized test given throughout North Carolina.
