[edit] Programming

CLTV focuses primarily on 24-hour news coverage. A one hour news broadcast is aired live, then rebroadcast again the next hour or sometimes two hours before a new live broadcast is put together and aired, repeating the cycle throughout the day. This is in a manner similar to CNN Headline News. CLTV broadcasts are similar in style and quality to other news broadcasts in Chicago with live shots, traffic, weather, sports, breaking news, and in depth pieces. Because they are exclusively a news station CLTV will often air local news events live in their entirety, such as press conferences, high profile speeches, protest rallies, as well as other special city events such as Taste of Chicago. CLTV also covers a good deal of breaking news, especially in the suburbs, probably due in part to their suburban location.

- Weekday live news broadcasts begin at 5:00am, on Saturdays and Sunday at 7:00am.

- CLTV re-broadcasts the WGN News at Noon at 1:00pm on weekdays.

- Metromix airs on CLTV at 7:00pm, 8:00pm, and 9:00pm on weekdays and is a 30 minute program focusing on the Chicago area entertainment, restaurant, and social scene. Metromix is a television compliment to the Metromix section of the Chicago Tribune newspaper section of the same name.

- Other programs seen on CLTV are 'Your Money', and 'Midwest Outdoors'.

- In 2002, CLTV began running paid programming in the overnight hours, usually from 1:00am until 3:30am.

- Recently canceled was the well-known program Sports Page, which was a nightly sports call-in show similar to many radio sports shows. "The Sunday Night Roundtable", a hybrid of local and national sports coverage, remains on the air on Sunday nights.

- Also during the 1990s CLTV broadcast some Chicago Cubs games.

- CLTV will occasionally broadcast a local sporting event under the banner "Comcast SportsNet on CLTV" when Comcast SportsNet already has a sports event to air on their regular channel.

[edit] Tribune Company Partnerships

CLTV is owned by the Tribune Company, therefore they receive a lot of content and reporting from other news divisions of the Tribune Company. News video is shared extensively between CLTV and WGN-TV. Most or all of CLTV's weather coverage is produced by WGN-TV.

Metromix staff puts together the Metromix show which airs throughout the week on CLTV. Chicago Tribune newspaper columnists provide in-depth reporting for many feature stories aired on CLTV.

[edit] Comcast Cable

CLTV has an exclusive arrangement with Comcast and is only available on Comcast Cable. Subscribers of other cable networks, as well as Dish Network and DirecTV cannot receive CLTV.
