Chicago Pacific Corporation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chicago Pacific Corporation was created in 1969 as a diversified Holding Company for the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad. Its purpose was to create profits for the ailing Rock Island, and to finance freight cars and other equipment, which could be purchased by its subsidiary the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad. Its Subsidiaries included:

  • Chicago Pacific Resources (Sold 1979)
  • Chicago Pacific Transportation (Liquidated 1980)
  • Chicago Pacific Consumer Products
  • Chicago Pacific Equipment Finanicing (Liquidated 1980)

In 1979 Chicago Pacific Resources was disbanded and Chicago Pacific's Transportation and Equipment Financing were liquidated, leaving Chicago Pacific with its consumer products division which owned Hoover vacuums and a few furniture makers; the company was purchased by Maytag in 1985.
