Chicago Catholic League

The Chicago Catholic League (CCL) is a high school athletic conference in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The schools are all part of the Illinois High School Association. The conference is made up of the male teams from the member schools and also has a sister conference, the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC).

The Chicago Catholic League is divided into a Blue, a White, and a Green Conference. The CCL Blue is the top football conference in Illinois and is arguably one of the best in the entire country. The Blue includes Mount Carmel, Loyola Academy, St. Rita, Brother Rice, and Providence Catholic. The White includes DeLaSalle, Fenwick, St. Ignatius, Bishop MacNamara, and St. Laurence. The Green includes Guerin Prep, Gordon Tech, St. Francis de Sales, Seton Academy, Hales Franciscan, and Leo.

Hales Franciscan, Mount Carmel, and Fenwick (girls) have won state championships. The Conference is divided into a North and a South Conference. The border schools in the conferences flip conferences every two years.

Fenwick, Mount Carmel and Loyola are perrenial contenders for the Kennedy Cup and state crown.

Mount Carmel, St. Rita, St. Laurence, Brother Rice and Providence are often top teams in the state.

St. Ignatius, Brother Rice, and Loyola are the traditional powers in Catholic League soccer.

Loyola and Fenwick are usually in the top five teams in the state.

Loyola is a favorite every year to win the state title.

Mount Carmel, St. Rita, St. Laurence and Providence have combined to win several state championships. The conference has won more AA State Wrestling titles (dual) than any other conference.

- Johnny Lattner, Fenwick - Heisman trophy winner.
- George Connor (American football), Delasalle - Chicago Bears, 1948-1955.
- Denny McLain, Mount Carmel - Cy Young Award-winning pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1968 & 69). McClain's also earned the AL MVP award in 1968 with 31 wins, the last time any MLB pitcher has won 30 games in a single season.
- Nick Rassas - Last two way player at the University of Notre Dame, NFL player, Loyola graduate
- Todd Rassas - Captain of the USA Lacrosse Team, Loyola graduate
- Coach K, Weber - Duke University basketball coach.
- David Finzer, Loyola - Former NFL punter for the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks.
- Dennis Lick, St. Rita - Former Chicago Bears OL.
- Frank Cornish, Mount Carmel - offensive lineman for Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys of 1992 and 1993.
- Mel McCants, Mount Carmel - former Purdue and Los Angeles Lakers forward.
- Chris Calloway, Mount Carmel - former New York Giants wide receiver.
- Simeon Rice, Mount Carmel - Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end.
- Joe Williams (United States Olympic wrestler), 6 time U.S. National Champion and member of 2004 US Olympic Team.
- Matt Cushing, Mount Carmel - Pittsburgh Steelers tight end and running back, 1999-2005.
- Donovan McNabb, Mount Carmel - Five-time all pro quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.
- Antoine Walker, Mount Carmel - starting forward for NBA ChampionMiami Heat in 2006 and NCAA Champion Kentucky Wildcats in 1996.
- Corey Maggette, Fenwick - NBA basketball player.
- Steve Edwards (football player), Mount Carmel - former Chicago Bears and New York Giants offensive tackle.
