Ira Chernus is Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His most recent book is Monsters To Destroy: The Neoconservative War on Terror and Sin. He is a historian of religions who studies issues of war and peace, especially in the history of the United States. He is also the author of numerous other books, including Dr. Strangegod: On the Symbolic Meaning of Nuclear Weapons; General Eisenhower: Ideology and Discourse; Eisenhower's Atoms for Peace; American Nonviolence: The History of an Idea.
