From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chester Cathedral Choir is made up of six lay clerks, up to three choral scholars and around 32 choristers (girls and boys).

Since 1997 the choir has recruited girl sopranos as well as boy trebles, both front rows singing regularly with the lay clerks. Occasionally, the girls and boys combine for special events.

Notable recordings of the choir include "The Water of Life" (2002) and "Love Eternal" (2003). The choir also broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4.

The choir is directed and accompanied by a team of three professional organists, plus an organ scholar (currently vacant).
