Cheshire Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 5,789 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.7 km² (3.4 mi²), all land.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 5,789 people, 2,315 households, and 1,588 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 665.2/km² (1,720.8/mi²). There were 2,381 housing units at an average density of 273.6/km² (707.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.20% White, 0.76% African American, 0.05% Native American, 2.95% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.28% of the population.
There were 2,315 households out of which 32.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% were married couples living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.4% were non-families. 29.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 85.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.0 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $67,558, and the median income for a family was $87,513. Males had a median income of $62,727 versus $37,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $34,600. About 2.8% of families and 4.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.6% of those under age 18 and 8.8% of those age 65 or over.
