Cherryholmes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cherryholmes is a six-member family bluegrass band. The two-generation group includes Jere Cherryholmes (father; bass/vocals), Sandy Lee Cherryholmes (mother, mandolin/vocals), Cia Leigh Cherryholmes (daughter, banjo/guitar/vocals), B.J. Cherryholmes (son, fiddle/vocals), Skip Cherryholmes (son, guitar/mandolin/vocals), and Molly Kate Cherryholmes (daughter, fiddle/vocals).
Cherryholmes has released four albums since 2001. The first three albums -- Still A Little Rough Around The Edges, Dressed For Success, and Bluegrass Vagabonds -- were released on their own label. The band's eponymous fourth album, the best-received of their releases, was issued by Skaggs Family Records in 2005.
Based in Arizona, Cherryholmes tours regularly, with at least 100 dates scheduled this year [1]. The group has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and Dollywood, been the subject of a Fox News report, and performed on several other radio and television programs.
Sandy Lee Cherryholmes home schooled all of her five children, but the family began playing music together only after the oldest daughter, Shelly Cherryholmes, died of a cardiac ailment in 1999.
