Chen Lin (Ming)

This is a Chinese name; the family name is Chen.

Chen Lin (陳璘) (AD. 1543-AD. 1603) was a general of the Ming Dynasty. He participated in Hideyoshi's Invasions of Korea in helping Yi Korea against the Japanese.

He arrived in Korea in AD 1597, and participated in the Battle of Noryang Point. In the battle, to boast the morale of the Coalition Chinese and Korean forces, he made a terrible mistake by sailing his ship too close to the front line and was surrounded. The Korean Admiral, Yi sun-shin was injured and killed on his way saving him. It is said, he regretted this mistake so much that he cries nonstop for one day to mourn for Admiral Yi's death. Toward the end of his career, he helped participated campaigns against the Hmong people and eventually his grandson settled in South Korea.
