[edit] Mandelbrot set

Hi, I left some comments over at the Mandelbrot set discussion page, in your thread of "making the Mandelbrot fractal accessible to a wider audience." - Connelly 03:54, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What amazing pictures

Just saw your additions to Rhossili. Now I know what those paragliders above my head are up to!

Image:Burry Holms.jpg is astounding. I wonder if it -- or a trimmed version of it (keeping the top half) -- might be worth adding to Loughor estuary?

Thanks very much! I've just come back from a week there with the family. Weather was wonderful for flying and going to the beaches with children!
Sure, I've added the image to Loughor estuary too. I didn't crop it as it made the image look a little distant. I think Rhossili Down maybe gives some context to the viewpoint. -- CharlesC 22:19, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RepRap

Charles, I don't mind you editing the RepRap site. I do mind, though, when you leave things broken like you just did with the Current State of Development section. I had the devil's own job getting that pic to show and when you "fixed" it it stopped showing again. I'm not so good at wikipedia edits that I can easily fix things like that.

Okay, I've fixed it now. Please don't leave it broken again.

One other thing, you've been throwing a LOT of detail about the RepRap project into the Wikipedia article about it. We'd sort of intended for the Wikipedia article to be kind of an overview of the project to give readers a feel for what RepRap is all about rather than an exhaustive exegesis. I'm beginning to worry that that overview is getting lost in the details that you are including in your recent work.

Mind, your work is good and interest is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in RepRap for it's own sake you might want to get involved with the project itself on that basis. Zach and Sebastien at RepRap are working on the site structure, but nobody is writing site content on a regular basis as such. - plaasjaapie

I'm afraid you are jumping to conclusions about my actions - the image link stopped working not because of anything I did but because it was subjected to what is known as a 'speedy deletion' by a wikipedia administrator due to the copyright license, that was selected during image upload, not being compatible with the GPL (or so the message under your image explained before it got zapped) - I actually spotted this shortly after you uploaded it and left a message for you about it on the 'talk' tab of your wikipedia user page.
As far as detail on a subject goes, wikipedia is a user contributed encyclopedia that anyone is welcome, whatever the subject, to add as much detail as they like, usually the more the better - no-one on Wikipedia 'owns' articles or can say what does or doesn't go in, that's it's nature of it and is part of the reason it is such a success. It is anarchic collaboration at it's best.
Also just to mention, and again I left a message on your talk page to explain this, I moved the location of your 'Current State of Development' section to below the article's introductory text only so readers could get a better understanding of the subject before they see news of the latest project status, and I think that still holds up, but do tell me if you think otherwise.
Anyway, I am glad the interest is appreciated. Please let me know if after reading this you are still unhappy with anything. - CharlesC 21:36, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
