Roughly, higher priority stuff is at top.

  • Knot theory -- rewrite, /draft7
    • skein relation is an odd fellow at the moment; need to create/merge stuff in skein theory, linear skein space, Jones-Wenzl idempotent, colored Jones polynomial, tangle category, ribbon category, etc., and clean up Temperley-Lieb algebra (add Temperley-Lieb category?), etc., etc.; lot of work here, but just need to figure out what the bare minimum is necessary for the knot theory article, and possibly try to unify articles on Jones poly, HOMFLY, etc.
  • Heegaard Floer homology -- kill redirect and create separate article
  • Andreas Floer - take a look at Notices article and see if there's stuff to add
  • Mikhail Gromov - rewrote article, but still needs good overview of contributions such as pseudoholomorphic curves (can add refs to later uses by Floer, et al)
  • Ricci flow -- expand: maximum principle, neckpinch, etc.
  • Make mention of minimal surface theory in 3-manifold theory. Meeks-Yau, Schoen-Yau, Freedman-Hass-Scott, Pitts-Rubinstein, etc.
  • Negatively curved group--add more definitions. Mention some basic properties and so forth.
  • knot diagram - currently redirects to knot theory; create own page with definitions and theorems about general position
  • Friedhelm Waldhausen -- start
  • Mazur swindle - explain history, name, and basic trick as applied to knots and generalized Schoenflies theorem
  • random 3-manifold -- explain heuristic idea and some definitions
  • Heegaard splitting -- need to cleanup entirely article to read better and have better organization and motivation. Also, add Freedman-Hass-Scott and Pitts-Rubinstein results.
  • Margulis lemma - start, + Margulis constant
  • Tait conjectures: flyping conjecture, writhe conjecture, minimize crossing number
  • finite type invariants -- need to flesh out more
    • Kontsevich integral -- start (see /draft2),maybe also universal finite type invariant
  • John Bardeen: Bell Lab years, Nobel prize(s) work
  • Max Dehn -- Dehn twist theorem
  • Dehn-Nielsen Theorem -- start
  • Smith conjecture-- explain major chunks of the proof and contributions by different groups
  • Zassenhaus neighborhood -- start
  • SnapPea -- explain censuses
  • normal surface -- upload figures and explain some more
  • pretzel knot -- needs more work, also start stubs on Montesinos and arborescent links

Possibility is to request an image (User:Chan-Ho Suh/links#Math_images lists some skilled image makers).

  • Alexander horned sphere -- need an image of it and perhaps a close-up of the iterative construction
  • figure-eight knot (mathematics) -- add picture for gluing of two ideal tetrahedra
  • RH Bing -- picture of Bing, and Pictures of House with Two Rooms, Dogbone space
  • Alternating knot -- picture of a flype
  • Handlebody - picture of a handlebody with spine
  • Bing double -- need pics for the doubling processes; also create articles
    • Whitehead double -- will probably need alternate pic of whitehead link also
