[edit] IOL

How exactly is IOL an abbreviation for this organization? --UNHchabo 06:14, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

It is the abbreviation the organisation chooses to use for itself. It is usually only partially capitalised: IoL. For some (unknown) reason, they choose to miss the "Chartered" out of the abbreviation. SuperFraggle 10:47, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
The were called "Institute of Linguists" until about two years ago, and only added the "Chartered" then. The original fellows, members, and associates had FIL, MIL, and AIL after their names. ElinorD (talk) 22:42, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
