[edit] Wikipedian policies in effect

OK, CS fans. Let's abide by the policies. Keep it verifiable. Quote your sources. And don't upload any files without proper licensings. Charmaine1997 02:46, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Is it really fair to have two fair use images here?--Jusjih 03:06, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
The guideline says "a limited number" of screenshots. There's only one number more limited than two, and that's one, so the guideline itself implies that two is OK. Also, since the critical commentary on the film concerns video quality and lighting, it is fair to show one face shot, one body shot, in order to convey these characteristics. Lighting of the face and of the body are two of the main concerns of photographic and cinematic lighting. Charmaine1997 21:16, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Jsalusbury, thanks for contributing. Interesting info about her current work. What is your source?

[edit] The Video Capture Guideline

Copyrighted

This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted film, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by the studio which produced the film, and possibly also by any actors appearing in the screenshot. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use for more information.

To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.

[edit] An overview of much-needed changes

At the request of Dismas, I was directed to review this article. First, the article is far too cumbersome and is horridly unprofessional, sticking out like a sore thumb in comparison to other biographical articles presently on WP. So here's what I did to fix this thing:

  1. The "fair use" magazine cover was removed. Per the fair use guidelines any use of cover art must be supported by critical commentary on the issue, the magazine, or the issue cover itself. No critical commentary was supplied and I have thus removed the image, as well as listed it for deletion.
  2. The lists pertaining to the filmography and magazine appearances are unnecessary and did not add any encyclopedic value to the article. A shortened, to-the-point versions of these lists would be of encyclopedic benefit to the article. I strongly suggest looking at what the Wikiproject on Porn stars has to say on filmographies and adhering to those guidelines. Suffice it to say, only her most notable work should be listed, not the entire thing, since it is horribly distracting to a biographical article.
  3. I've also moved her statistics to the adult biography infobox for pornography personalities and tightened up the body some (no pun intended).
  4. I've also added some more filmography links (IAFD & AFD). Scratch that. I couldn't find any listings in either database... interesting.

I also have issue with the two other "fair use" photos on this page. Despite the verbage on the image description pages for those pictures, there seems to be no valid fair use rationale, since a public domain or freely licensed picture can be reasonably obtained per WP:FAIR.

As for the content I surgically removed, I've copied the listings I removed to a subpage here, so that people may discuss what to include back on the page. Please do not reinsert the entire thing in part or in full without achieving consensus, or it will only be removed again. Thank you. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 06:06, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Joe, thanks for your help in improving the CS article. You might want to review Wikipedia:Civility. The following language might be considered uncivil by some:
  • horridly unprofessional
  • sore thumb
  • this thing
  • horribly distracting

Re: fair use of the magazine cover. After reviewing the guidelines for the fair use of magazine covers, I agree that the use of the Fiesta cover is not appropriate in the CS article. However, I think it's well within the guidelines to use the image in the Fiesta (magazine) article, so I've adjusted the fair use rationale and critical commentary in the image description page, as well as the caption of the image in the Fiesta article, in order to clarify that the use of the image there is within the guidelines.
