About his original name: I've seen sources saying he was born "Karl" and later changed it to "Charles", and also seen sources saying he was born "Charles Karl" and just kept that. I suspect the former is correct ("Charles Karl" seems rather odd), which is why I've gone for it, but I don't know for sure, and anybody who does should change it if required. --Camembert
