Talk:Characters of Morrowind
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Was it really necessary to put all of the morrowind characters into only one page - this will get complex pretty soon! Shanul 11:33, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
This page only lists the notable but minor, unimportant characters such as Fargoth, and not major ones such as Vivec or Dagoth Ur. I don't expect the all 1000+ named NPCs of Morrowind to be here, since most of them don't have a story.

[edit] Saving Tarhiel's Life
"It is also possible to save Tarhiel's life but upon talking with him afterwards his only response is "I don't want to talk about it."". That really blows because he could be telling you stacks of information about what you have to do and who you have to save and why you are here.
Is this true? It appeared to me a prescripted, unavoidable event. If it is not substantiated, I shall remove the sentence.
This is indeed true, at least I could in my game. I think I did it by running towards him and talking to him before he hit the ground, though I might be wrong. Haven't played Morrowind in a long time. Ornilnas
[edit] Um...
What about that guy that ran the Corpusarium?
He seems good enough to put here, unless he already has an article. He was one of my favorites. JONJONAUG 03:05, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Divayth Fyr was his name, looked in the editor. JONJONAUG 03:18, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Some others ...
Just wanted to suggest Yagrum Bagarn, the Last Dwemer, and M'Aiq The Liar (Khajiit, Sheogorad Region, on a small island east of Dagon Fel. Talks about Dragons, Weresharks and ... Multiplayer :D ) for this article. But this should better be written by a native English speaker ;) -- 84.132.136.69 18:02, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
would someone care to add the location of the characters? in the article, they kinda float in empty space. MrBeck 04:41, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Move to 'Notable characters in Morrowind'
I think that this article should be renamed 'Notable characters in Morrowind'.
- Minor characters gives the impression that the characters listed are not notable, and may have sparked the recent AFD.
- Characters that have their own page could then have a short synopsis here with a link to their main article. This is more in line with the way other Wikipedia topics are structured.

[edit] Added some info bout Jiub
My info came from here http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=279493 post 12. I would say this information is accurate. Feel free to remove the fanboys remark, I just couldn't contain the fanboy within. Squee.
[edit] Unnotable Characters
I feel that the following characters do not deserve to be in the article, due to lack of relevance, and importance in the storyline:
- Helvaine Desele
- Fargoth
- Gaenor
- Foryn Gilnith
- Duma Gro-Lag
- Jobasha
- Menta Na
- Muriel Sette
- Granny Varis
- Wulf
There could be others, but these are some I know do not appear in anything more than simple side quests or just do not have a notable role in the story. Some of these also appear to be fan info, more suitable for a Wikia rather than a Wikipedia article. If no one detests or responds, I'll remove them myself. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions ♣ 16:40, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bring back (some of) the minor character
I've got to disagree with parts of the above post for a number of reasons:
- Fargoth and Gaenor are arguably the two most influential characters in the game in terms of the community. While they don't have a huge impact on the game itself, their influence on the Elder Scrolls series in general can't be denied. If Jiub is included, they should be too.
- Jobasha is probably involved in more quests than any other character, and is also a fan favorite.
- Wulf represents the only time a divine has appeared in an Elder Scrolls game (that is, it's possibly to actually interact with him).
- Creeper and the Mud Crab should probably be brought back, due to their importance to players of the game. Perhaps they should be under one heading.
Also, Yagrum Bagarn needs to be added. If no one else wants to, I'll work on his section.--JakeOfRavenclaw
- First off, the sections on Fargoth and Gaenor were somewhat game guidish, had OR, and was fancruft: Fargoth is featured in only 1 quest in the game at the very beginning; Wikipedia isn't a game site or game guide; most of Fargoth's section was similar to Gaenor's, in terms of what it consisted off. You also seem to bring up how some characters "are important to players;" this does not make them notable enough for being put in this article. Wikia's are the only things that should cater to fans and players, not Wikipedia. Only notable characters should be posted. Pertaining to Wulf, it is only speculated by the Imperial Cult, and maybe fans, that Wulf is Tiber reincarnated; that's never proven. Thus, he is not notable enough to be added in the article. Creeper and the Talking Mudcrab are only important to fans, as opposed to the game itself, but I'll admit, I'm not too sure if they should be deleted, although I'm not too sure they can be added either. As for Jiub, I feel he should be kept for being, at least, mentioned in more than one game, although I'm still not sure he should. It also strikes me strange that you would have, basically, insignificant characters (in terms of in-game influence) over characters who have actually influenced, not only the in game environment, but the storyline, such as the Chief of the Skall in Bloodmoon or even Barenziah. Basically, those who edited this article should, perhaps, get their priorities straightened out, as far as character importance. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 00:18, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

- I'd wonder who Wikipedia is catering to if not to fans or players, but never mind. You're right about Barenziah needing to be added though. Perhapes a second section of this article could be created detailing characters such as Fargoth and Creeper. Also, Creeper is (possibly) referenced to in Oblivion as the Hound of Clavicus Vile, and Jobasha's name appears in the Mehrunes Razor add-on for Oblivion. So they, also, have been mentioned in more than one game.JakeOfRavenclaw 20:00, 6 February 2007 (UTC)JakeOfRavenclaw

- If that's true, about the other mentionings, then I feel I've come to the conclusion that they should still be removed, for they still don't have a major role in the game. And, no, Wikipedia isn't catering to fans of anything, besides anyone who wants to know about something; that being said, that doesn't mean you can make an article about just anything, but only things of notable merit. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 20:45, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
