shouldent it talk about the chakras and how to unlock them instead of having the events aang goes through while unlocking them?Tremewanbill 22:09, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Tremewanbill
[edit] My bone with the article
First off, yes, I was expecting that an article on A:TLA's take on Chakras would eventually be created by someone, but I was afraid that the admins would have a problem with it since there's already an article on Chakras already.
My problem with this article, though, is that, when I looked through Wikipedia for real-world references to the particular chakras mentioned, I hotlinked each and every one of them to each Chakra term in The Guru, even though the articles had nothing to do with Avatar, but everything to do with the chakras and what they meant. I even boldtexted the links to attract attention to the articles for further discourse. However, this article, being relevant to the Avatar take on Chakras but still heavily related to real-world chakras as defined in Hinduism, doesn't even mention the respective articles on Chakras to draw further parallels.
OK, whatever I just said may not make sense, but I'm just confused over why one article links to the chakras and the other, apparently more relevant article doesn't, and if any change to the article as is would be necessary. --Toussaint 22:52, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- The guy who made the page has randomly been making unnecessary pages for stuff on Avatar, by moving information from already-existing articles and sticking them on new pages. This one's okay, although crappy. I don't care if it's deleted or improved. Y BCZ 15:54, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ideas
I decided that instead of merging the other chakra page, why not just making links to the real chakras, which is the only thing that the other chakra page does.
- Ooh, I hadn't even read this until after I'd done just that. I'm wondering if the links should be moved to or perhaps re-entered into the last line of each section, but I'll leave it be for now. -- Sarrandúin [ Talk + Contribs ] 04:27, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] What Episode
Is this from? I don't believe the article states, and it might be useful seeing as it makes references to 'later in the episode...' and other such things. Robert Bobwater 22:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Chakras are from the episodes The Guru and Crossroads of Destiny, the Book 2 Finale. Bagpipeturtle 22:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Good Page
I actually like this page and think that if we clean it up, it can become something worth keeping. I'm all for helping but I'm not to good with formatting on wikipedia...yet.Rosario lopez 03:20, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Can we organize it a little?
It's a little messy, can't it just be easier to organize like this? It's not very bad right now, but the page can get better. I'll show you what the first 2 might look like if you want to choose this. Oh, and sorry if I spell some words wrong.
Image | Chakra | Chakra Number (not nessessary) | Vision | Color (not nessessary) | Deals with | Blocked by | Location |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Earth Chakra | 1 | The Blue Spirit charging at Aang with his swords to cut his shackles, the Blue Spirit threatening Zhao to kill Aang, Katara being dragged underground by General Fong, Sozin's Comet, Aang in the Avatar State destroying his surroundings, and finally, Aang is surrounded by fire, sitting before a man who appears to be Fire Lord Ozai. After clearing his thoughts, the images disappear, and Aang gives a sigh of relief as he comes out of meditation. Guru Pathik congratulates Aang, and tells him the first chakra has been opened. | Red | Survival | Fear | Base of the Spine | |
Water Chakra | 2 | He ran away from home upon finding out he was the Avatar. He also mentions that he hurt the Earth Kingdom soldiers at General Fong’s base while in the Avatar State. Pathik tells Aang to accept that these things have happened, and not let them cloud his judgment and his energy- he must forgive himself. | Orange | Pleasure | Guilt | Unknown |

This format is easier to read. Sgt. Hydra 05:43, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
The one that I made, or the one that it is already here. I think if it graphed, it would be easier. I think it is easier with the graph really, the way it is organized. Instead of reading everything, they can just go, "Uh...what is it blocked by? ... Oh...Fear. I knew that. Ha ha." Think about it and just tell me. You don't have to like it, it's just a good suggestion. I'm here to help. 4myself4 21:11, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
I like the graphed one. That is what I was talking about. The current, paragraph format is difficult to read.Sgt. Hydra 23:59, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, good. I like it too. Are we able to do that, Sgt. Hydra, or should we leave it the way it is for a while? 4myself4 02:55, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Looks good, however not sure about the images, they are images of chakras as used in traditional Yoga, and do not apply here - they should also not link to these chakra's articles. The colour column can be removed. If anyone feels like creating new images to represent the chakras in the context of the series, feel free! Sfacets 03:05, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I like the pictures. if you don't have them, you get a very dull looking article. Sgt. Hydra 01:32, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree, but we can't just use the same graphics used for the chakra article. Why don't we use (others would need to be created)? Sfacets 03:43, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
The pictures look fine. No need to change them just because they are also found in another article.Sgt. Hydra 06:15, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
(see answer below) Sfacets 16:52, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, about the pictures...heh...I was just using what is n the page right now. I mean that is what we have. Do you want to use the real pictures such as this: Earth. Here's what it'll look like with the first 2:
Is that REALLY what you want? don't work (sorry Sfacets). They make no sense. Do you want my first example or this one? I want to get this over with and re-do the entire page by, like, today or tomorrow.
Final Question! Do you want my first example or my last example (second if you wish to call it that)
1:
2:
3:No pic.
I'm not mad, but think wisely about the choices.
You can't just use images representing the Chakras from Hindu tradition - that would be both misleading and Original research. There is no connection (unless you can find a source stating otherwise) between the chakras in the cartoon and the Chakras. Sfacets 16:52, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
ENOUGH!!!!! Lets just make the graph and forget about the pictures for the moment. Keep the older set of pictures. We can debate about them later!Sgt. Hydra 14:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
...Or we could use no images and then argue about adding images later... Sfacets 17:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Good idea. I'll do that (or start it) now! Good idea! 4myself4 20:50, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Symbology in Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Blade and Chalice
As you can see in most of these chakra symbols, you'll see the symbol, Chalice. The Chalice, in symbology, represents womanhood. The blade represents manhood. So why is there no blade in any of these chakra symbols? Could it be just a coincedence that there is the chalice symbol in most of these? I don't think so. It may have been very hard for Aang to unlock these Chakra's, because he is a male. If this was a girl avatar, these chakra's could have possibly been opened easier, because they will have a stronger advantage. If I can find more symbols in Avatar icons, I may be able to make a whole page section dealing with The Avatar and Symbology. -Heir of Eragon
What does this have to do with anything? Sfacets 00:52, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm just saying, I have an interest in symbology and Dan Brown's novels (he introduced me), and I'm just stating this theory. I thought it was a good theory. -Heir of Eragon
