Embankment Place, an office and shopping complex, was built on top of Charing Cross station in London in 1990. The design is by the architects Terry Farrell and Partners.
Trains entering and leaving the station cross the River Thames on the Hungerford Railway Bridge. Bracketing either side of the rail bridge are the new foot bridges, known as the Golden Jubilee Bridge, which were built in 2002. Their white suspension towers are illuminated at night and help to put a fresh face on the older box girder bridge, whilst echoing Brunel's original suspension design.
